One more question for you (perhaps more later). Since I do not have an overhead misting system (this year) and am applying my kelp/seaweed solution by hand via a spray bottle/mister, my question is "do any of you spray underneath the leaves as well as on top?" It is very time consuming but I am wondering if it would help. Any thoughts or am I way off base on this one? I figured it couldn't hurt and definitely keeps the bugs away.

As long as you only wet the leaves a very high percentage of your application will be utilized by the healthy plant. The underside is part of the absorbing system but only home growers can utilize the time to make this approach. Yes it will help the plant. If you have time and do not cause other damage wading through the patch your time is not wasted.
Late in the afternoon is the best time to foliar feed while early AM is the second best time. Foliar feeding seems to be enhanced when added to wet or damp leaves. Any run off goes to ground and will be utilized over a longer period of time as it is picked up by the roots.
