First year grower here. Would I be breaking a major rule if I just allowed mother nature to take its course? I am a little lazy but also real busy, some mornings I just can't be around. How important is it to control a cross?

Only important if you want to trade or grow the seeds next year..otherwise you can pollinate with any winter squash

Hey...New!!! I was terrible at hand pollinating last year (first year trying) so let bees do their thing...I ended up with close to a 400 pounder....not bad! Like the others said, only thing is you won't have true genetic info on your seeds produced. Good luck.

Your first goal should be to grow a big pumpkin. Making a cross is secondary.
