Many of you talk about the age of your plants/fruit and I am wondering how many days of actual fruit growth you can expect (on average) for these beasts. For example, I have the #1 at 261 OTT on day 55 and #2 is 229 OTT on day 48. I understand that the plant has a 120 day cycle but how long will the fruit continue to grow? The weather is good now and gains are nice but I don't know what to expect. Any thoughts?

About 60 days is the average with a good climate.

Thanks. Does that mean that I will only get 5 days decent growth on #1 and 12 days on #2. I thought the fruit would grow untill the plant died off. Pumpkins are only now starting to turn orange and I hoped that they would continue to swell in growth untill ripe. I guess not?

Mine will be 58 days old tomorrow and it is still growing about 10lbs a day and I hope to see it growing all the way up to the weigh off. The PNW and all of Canada (I think, I'm not sure about central and eastern Canada) have a longer growing season than those in New England and the Central states. Our pumpkins tend to grow longer and slower out here. We dont really see the kind of big day gains they will see. But it can all change no matter where you are depending on weather.

Thanks Ben, I kind of thought the same thing and am glad you could confirm it for me.
