This is the first year that I buried my vines. I dont see any difference in the plants. In past years, I just made sure to keep the entire patch moist at the soil surface and the vines would send out roots at the nodes.I thought anchorage was the reason to bury vines, and also to have a better root system. Is there another reason to bury vines?

I think those are the main ones. But some folks also rely on burying to control Squash Vine Borers. And it seems to work well for them. As for me, I've got way too many decent chemical just a champin' at the bit to worry about SVB! LOL
