This is me and my 9 year olds first year growing giant watermelons. I was wondering if anyone knows the right soil amendments to add for next year and the proper spacing between plants or stumps. Also, about how big of a space do you need for each plant?

The first step to ammending your soil is to have a soil test done. It doesn't have to be fancy (unless you are going for the world record) The soil testing lab will give you advice on making amendments. Follow the instructions or post your test results and ask for help here on bp.com. That would be a good place to start. I would recommend at least a 12' spacing between plants if growing in rows. Also I would try posting this on the melon board and I bet you would get a lot more responses.

Thanks for the help big moon! I posted it on melon board a week ago but I still haven't got any responses. Thanks again.
