I agreed to help my friend with his 1/2 acre project here in Il I am clueless but do have a green thumb.I guess i need some seeds and advice not in that order..thanx

Start with a soil test. Also read some of the more complete grower diaries. There will be a lot of good information to obtain here over the winter. Seeds too. Steve

try to get the seeds that produced the biggies as opposed to the seeds from the biggies...once you get a feel for it, you'll figure out which crosses may be good but for now, join the aggc and find out what produced the 1000 lbers this year... you might have some difficulty obtaining a 723, 805, 582, 846, 705 or 845 bobier since those are the current hotties as far as seeds are concerned. look for numbers other than these that have produced pumpkins in the size range that you would like to grow. or you might try my 490 est that grew a 700lber or the seeds from the 700 hahaha...no sales pitch here...
