Hi, this might also be a basic question, but I have to ask.
I have some old leaves that are starting to die off, I am thinking maybe due to over fertilising, but the plant is about 2 1'2 months old, and has a good size pumpkin on it.

The question is, should I let some of the third stage vines grow out and put out fresh new leaves in place of the old dying ones to help continuing feeding the pumpkin?

Ant advice is greatly appreciated.
Cheers

picture really help diagnose issues.

The first leaves do start dying off from age, but it could be a disease problem too.

I'm thinking you are in your last month of growing right now, how much is the fruit growing per day? If its still gaining good I wouldn't start trying to grow vegetation.

It's a balancing act. You don't want to use all of the energy growing vines and leaves instead of the fruit, but you have to have healthy vines and leaves to create the energy to feed the fruit.

If its only a few leaves at the stump area, we don't try to replace them. If we have to remove a side vine or something we try to fill in the space with a new vine.

Cheers.
The patch size is a little over 1200 sq ft but have a few plants in that area.
Below is the link to the pics in my diary of the plant, leaves and pumpkin.

It is hard to see, but the leaves closer to the stump and starting to die and tun a rusty brown shade, and the leaves a bit further out are starting to get brittle with a whitish / blue colour, think this is from fertilizer spray, i spray only the underside of the leaves, and could possible be from some of the spray getting onto of the leaves.

It has been doing on average about 2 -3 pounds per day as it is getting cooler where i am in Tasmania plus.
Days are now cloudy with days also starting to get shorter

The "whitish /blue" is powdery mildew. I like Flint or Pristine for treating here. Don't know what you have or can get that works. Several good fungicides out there.
