Getting ready to pollinate. Noticed one of the females as it is developing has an abnormally long stem with a leaf growing our where the stem meets the pumpkin. Would this be a good one to pollinate (prune off the leaf) due to the long stem or does it most likely have something wrong with it due to abnormal development?

I pollinated this one and the next one which had a normal thicker stem. As they started to develop the one with the long stem is almost perfectly round where the thicker stem is a little more oblong. Both seem to be growing at about the same rate. This is probably moot now, but which one would you keep? The oblong one developed a split around the blossom end and is oozing, most likely due to all the rain we are getting in my area. This brings me to my next question. Does the stigma remnant diameter on the blossom end indicate size potential? On the one that split the stigma is 2x the size of the one that has the longer stem and is round. Thanks.

Did you try my seed? I have had 7 females on mine already and pollinated the fifth one today.

They're on the cue for next year. I was too slow getting you an envelope so I fear I wouldn't get full potential from them if I planted now. Using seeds from last year's pumpkins I grew this year. Looking forward to crossing with yours next year to see what they produce. Thanks for the seeds!
