Nothing but extreme heat in the forecast here in Oregon. My question is how can I keep my kin safe in 108° heat with no misters or sprinklers? I have been cooling every half hour by hand watering, what else should I be doing?

Shade the tips of the vines which you might still have growing (or shade the whole plant, if that´s possible)

I talked to a grower up there mid day today,,,,,,,,, that's some crazy heat you guys are having!

106 107 he was saying in the patch,,,,,, that's just not fun..:(

Indeed it's miserable, plus I have wild fires 15 miles to the East and the south of me. My kin seems to be holding her own pretty well, into the heat of the day with minimal wilting and impressive gains. Shower can every 15 mins from 1:15pm till current plus some silca and soluble endo and ecto mycorrhizal fungi. Prime example of playing with what you're dealt. Thanks to all for suggestions and feedback.

This has been one of the weirdest weather yearZ for sure..The best we can do sometimeZ iZ never enough, Mother Nature RuleZ the roost. THe best we can hope for iZ she calms down..cooler temps, gentle rain, and a soft breeze..Hang in there still 50 dayZ to go....

We constructed covers with reclaimed pallet wood pounding stakes in the ground and then draping old sheets over the top with a pitched roof in case of rain. I do notice a good benefit from apply a damp cloth on my fruit during hot, windy periods to prevent cracking. I also do not have misters or available direct water sources, so by hand is it. I did come up with a trash can converted to a drip line. Many gardeners near me leave behind loads of materials and those hoses are now my drip lines!!
