Hi - just found a small rotten spot on the stem. Can I salvage the pumpkin as is if I cut it from the vine now (Sept 6) or kiss it goodbye? Pumpkin is about 450 lbs... my first. Thanks!

Another option is to scrape off the bad stuff and paint on full strength Daconil. You should be able to keep it going quite a while. Just remember to clean off any fungicide before you take it to a weigh-off or let anyone handle it.

just remove the soft tissue down to healthy tissue. Clean with peroxide or rubbing alcohol daily for the next few days, and if possible put a fan on it to dry it up.

Had the exact same thing going on and did exactly what cntryboy recommended, dusted with Daconil and fan 24/7 and she's recovered nicely so far. Shield it from overhead watering to keep it dry and good luck!
