a double vine is a mutated vine. usually not circular in form with extra leaf's or tendrils at each nod were only 1 should be. i have heard of one growing a 600+ pumpkin on one but most growers shun them due to problems and belief that nothing large can be grown on them. most growers pull such plants or dead head the double vine to allow a side vine to take over as the main.some growers leave the double vine in hopes that it will work out into a single vine. this does happen sometimes but if you only have one plant like me it's best to start a next one if you have time, if not then dead heading is your next best option. right now my plant is a double that i've dead headed at about 8'. now at 24' with new main
