I am brand new to pumpkins, and with my limited grow space I thought it would be fun to enter a pumpkin in the 150 sq ft competition. The rules say the pumpkin must be an Atlantic Giant.

I have a bunch of seeds, but they are all labeled with a growers name, weight, and genetics. They do not say their heritage. I believe I read that all record setting pumpkins are ag. I just wanted to verify that they are though. I am choosing all 1700+ lb seeds.

Thanks

Yea... If they are over (5-600lbs,)... Pretty safe bet they are AG's... Good luck this year ...

welcome to the 150 contest....i have been scribbling patch shape and vine patterns for the past 3 weeks. I probably shouldnt reveal my strategy...since this is a competition, but i right now i am leaning towards growing in a non-rectangular area, using a "christmas looped flag pattern". I will be starting my seeds april 15. Will be starting my 150 diary entries about that time. I will be looking forward to seeing your diary entries, and how you are going to approach this challenge.

At 1700 lbs. the question is not even open for discussion. It's AG. But the Christmas looped flag pattern ? Must be an ancient MN secret. Lol, hope you kill it Bnot.

Thanks everyone. I have 5 seeds picked out to start. I will pick the two best plants, and cull the rest. Then pollinate my pumpkin with the remaining two. Once I am sure my pumpkin is set and looking healthy, I will cull the father. Seems kinda brutal when I describe it!
