What are your experiences with plants that have had slow starts because of bad weather? Do they pick up when conditions improve or are they permanent affected?

Its been cool and completely cloudy here on the coast for 6 weeks Mike. Everyone is a little behind because of it but the warm weather is just around the corner. You will be amazed how fast your plants catch up.:)

Good luck down there!

They are forecasting 100° or more this weekend and up to 108° on Monday! Take measures to protect your plant Michael! Don't worry about the slow start. Like Chris said, you'll be amazed at how fast they catch up when it warms up. I'm sure you have been watching my plant. It jumps when its warm and slows when its cool. Hey Chris, have you bought an AC for the green house yet!

I hope I do awesome because I put in an awesome amount of money into this year compared to last! Lol... I am more ready for heat than last year as well.

108, ouch!

Well Gourdzilla,,, I have two overhead fans on each side, two others on each side right in the middle of the house, two on the north side that pull air in and a giant 36" commercial fan on the south side that sucks air out. The fans on the north and south side are hooked to the thermostat and don't kick on until it gets to 88. Its usually right at 85 and has only kicked on a couple times this year.
I'm sure this weekend with the heat wave coming the fans will be running most of the day.

So to answer your question,,,, no swamp cooler or air conditioner yet but I may have it on my list for next year depending on how things go. ;)

Wow Chris! Sounds like you have a really good setup. I am just wondering how in the world I am going to compete with you. I am doing everything I can think of to squeeze more pounds out of my small area. The whole driveway will be in play this year too. I keep eyeing my neighbors lawn also. :-)

I turn on my mister when it hits 95+

It hit 95° yesterday, was forecast to only be 90°. Today they forecast 95° but its already 98° and we haven't got to the hottest part of the day yet. The weather service says 105° on Sunday and 108° Monday. The way the temps keep getting hotter than their forecast makes we wonder if we may go over 110°.
My pumpkin plant is happy so far. A double layer of shade cloth over the entire plant is doing the job very well.

We hit 107° today and I made it through without any damage. Tomorrow may be a different story. It will be hotter and I will be at work and not able to keep an eye on things.

Yup Vince,,,,, I have a team in Palm Springs and they say its suppose to be 122! Dang that's hot! I've been able to keep the greenhouse at 95 but that hasn't been easy.

Good luck tomorrow bud, the cooler weather is a couple days away.

At those temps, I would advise, take care of yourself's as much as your plants! I went thru a heat stress thing a couple of weeks ago, and it not pleasant! Be careful!! Peace, Wayne
