Hi all. First year grower. Learned from my dad who passed away. Can't recall if he kept the side vine that grew on his pumpkin stem or if he cut it off. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

It all depends on your plant, the position, stem length and angle of the pumpkin and what you can (or want to) make out of it.
- If you can easily let the main vine continue past the fruit, it will be easier to remove this secondary. - If you need to terminate the main vine right after the fruit, this secondary might be at a much better angle and could become the new main vine. - If this secondary is very flexible and on the side opposite the pumpkin some secondaries are missing, you could try to bend this secondary over the main vine and let it grow to fill some patch space behind the pumpkin.
Some very successful growers let it grow, some other very successful growers remove it very early.
