Subject: Flower end of pumpkin

Wondering if it's ok to cut the end off the pumpkin, the flower end stem thing?

No don't cut off the button , just keep it dry I usually put a little fan on mine and you will be fine. If you cut it off the pumpkin will more than likely go down :)

Joe, Why do you want to cut it off? I recommend leaving it on. Cutting it off creates a risk of rot.

Joe, I read in the book, "How to Grow World Class Giant Pumpkins The All Organic Way" to wait until the flower petals dry and brown a bit. These can be gently removed and this will help you maintain the area from insects, critter damage, etc.

BiddyGoat, In the pick it looks like the flower petals are completely off.
Joe are you talking about the blossom end knob? If so, why remove it?

I originally tried to view the pic this am, but could not bring up the link. I am able to see the blossom end now. I would not remove the blossom end knob.
