Noone will ever REALLY know which is better until ALL the seeds you're comparing are grown in the same conditions and way. With a normal performing plant, I'd prefer sibbed because you would PROBABLY end up with a product more representative of the original parent seed. With selfed I think you'd end up with a product more similar to the pumpkin the seeds come out of. Of course the "better" seed would be dependent on the individual parent or parents.....just my 2 cents

Since most growers "self" pollinate rather than "sibbling", you will find that, generally speaking, that "selfed" pumpkins will be larger than "sibbed". The reason that most use "selfed" is because most folk do not have enough space for two of the same plant.

My 880 is 695 x sibb and the male plant grew Steve Handy's 1247. I think it has lots of potential with the female and male plants both being good producers. I will probably be growing it this year, hopefully I can get a good one off it.

I sibbed the 1260Weir because I felt it would create a seed as similar as possible to the 1260 which is an awesome gene pool....
