This is my first year growing and let's just say I've been very reactive vs. proactive. I'm cutting one off the vine tomorrow to take to our state fair. Anything I need to do or not to so I don't screw up the harvest? Still have some prizewinners variety ones growing (thanks to nanarea and porkchop, my season probably would have been over in May without them!)
Thanks!

Make sure you strap it down good on the truck or trailer so it doesn't bounce out. But not tight enough to crack it. Maybe put some padding under it. Be careful that you don't break off the stem. Make sure you have enough help if you are moving it with a tarp. No pumpkin is worth wrecking your back.
