I sold one of my big pumpkins to a bar, and I had to wait untill after holloween to retreave the seeds. When I cut a hole in the side, they were growing roots and sprouting everywhere! What a wast!!! Oh well what the heck I'll get some more. I already wish it were spring so I could plant big pumpkins! It's starting to take hold of me again. Your right when you said this hobby is adictive! I couldn't get out of this if I tried! I could say that I won't grow pumpkins this year, but I'm kidding myself! I stocked up on potash already, and have some seed waiting.

The pumpkin would have to be stored at low temperature to avoid seed sprouting. We displayed two of our's at my son's school. The one in the foyer was too warm & though I pulled the seeds early, some had sprouted. The one displayed outdoors was still good 2 weeks later.
I would recommend removing seeds from any pumpkin stored in a heated area. Yeah. The fruit will rot sooner. But at least you'll get the seeds.

Thanks Tremor! I kinda figured thats why they were growing inside the pumpkins. They put it in the lobby where people come in which explains the mess.
