Hello all, I have a friend that went to walmart and bought regular jack o lantern seed and played with them and hit 200ish lbs I believe (I will get the exact weight soon.) So being a gardener and competitive, I challenged him to a friendly comp. of who can grow the biggest next yr. (it won't be walmart seed lol). Although I am a gardener, I've never grown giant anything! So I guess my question is, where do I start? Any and all advice is much appreciated!

How much square footage do you have to work with or how much do you plan on dedicating for the grow?

Find your local club and or weigh off and go meet with a few growers. A soil test is a must for knowing what your soil is in need of. Adding compost instead of manure is probably a good idea.(less diseases)
