I have a pumpkin coming on at a bad angle, its shooting up and directly towards the main vine. I waited too long to cut the secondary that was next to it. Will this be able to be corrected to 90 slowly?

You can move most of them to 90 degrees.Free up(cut the roots) the nodes at the pumpkin and just before and just after the pumpkin.Move in the after noon by lifting and set back down when the pumpkin is about bowling ball size so then it has some weight to it.It might take 3 to five days to get it 90 degrees. You lift and move sideways.You can feel its resistance ,some vines/stems are more flexible than others so its a feel thing.

Thanks for the reply, first time grower here. Been reading up on the site. I'm trying to post a picture on the blog. Right now it looks like when the pumpkin lays down it will fall right on the main.

The secondary coming down at 6 o'clock has been cut after the picture was taken. I wondered if I should have cut the main and left the secondary?

Yer ok...like cojoe says, you’ll have to slowly get it into position...small movements each day once it has the weight to keep itself in position. Adjustments always made at the hottest part of the day when the plant is at its most pliable. Good luck!!!

cbell youll want to cut the secondary vine away that comes off with the pumpkin and the secondary vine before the fruit youll want to train it back away from the pumpkin(towards the wall) to make room for the pumpkin cause it will get big.The little pumpkin has a long stem which makes moving it easier. Also you may want to put a piece of fabric between the pumpkin and its vine so it doesnt scratch itself if it does lay on the vine.A little piece of landscape fabric or shop towel works good for that

You have plenty of stem and its young enough you can very gently pull it over. Try to get the position better dutinh the next week or so...

Don't move much at a time. Even in the heat of the day, you can snap it.
