if you mean bury the vines by mound up i like to do this about 2' behind the end of the vines.

Many I know just use a hoe and make a "V" ahead of the vine and gently lower the vine and cover as it grows. No up mounding. Each vine will more or less go down on it's own but crossed sticks may be used to hold them down with a little pressure if needed.

When the bloom begins do not cover until you have selected and positioned the "go for the grow" fruit. Then begin the bury again.

As the fruit grows don't forget to cut and free the vine to rise with the growing fruit. A couple feet on each side of the fruit is proper. You may need to uncover a bit of the vine you covered.

personnally instead of trenching i actually mound up it tends to keep the vines a little dryer and less chance of deseise or rotting
