Figuring out my 2021 Patch Design (50x50) . On Graph paper if I have 2 pumpkins planted East to West - It appears I would only have about 12.5 ft on each side for secondary's off the main. - Will that be enough. Last year I had them growing toward each other leaving about 20 feet on each side. I ended up with two pumpkins growing very close together.. Appreciate any advice.

Without actually looking at it on paper, (that's how lazy I am today) seems an OK idea to grow each still toward each other but offset so that they can each grow their main vines PAST each other but not dead-on, just like a public road; planting each about 20 feet from its starting EDGE would give you 40-foot-wide plants (more than enough, IMHO) and each could get to 50 feet X 10 feet wide still, even at the tip of the plant. I'm sure of many other combinations coming soon, and I hope this helps.
My own are like 30 feet wide by about 40 long and you could also consider a third plant with the excess you may have - Lucky You! eg

My thought was to have them growing side x side heading West, Which would give each pumpkin a 25ft wide by 50 foot long area. Maybe I should rethink it.

How bout 3 plants 2 @ 625sqft. Use them to play with some variables. And your "A" seed in the remainder. Oh to have such problems. Looking forward to your diary this season, see big pumpkins in your future. Sorry I know i Didnt answer your question.

All of these are the plant starting at the wide end, and growing to the small end. Just my thoughts.

For three, I would split the width in 2 20 ft, and a 10 ft, and then do 1 30, and 2 10s, at the other, and grow them for 50 ft, and have the side vines decrease in length.

For two, I would do one the width split 35, 15, and reverse the other side, and have the two plants grow towards each other like with three, and have decreasing side vines.

I would do four plants and I would split it in half, and then do each half split into two trapazoid, like with two.

Thank you PumpkinGrower216 - My limit is two pumpkins. I could hardly take care of the two I grew last year. I'm low tech with soaker hoses and a hand wand. So much time in the garden watering.

Get at least two for each plant Joel Holland Whizzer-type sprinklers that result in a 40-foot-diameter circle when it comes to watering - and perhaps a water timer for each plant as well - there is discussion on another 'board' about it right now;

probably 30 PSI would be all that is needed to do this; I am on spring water, so only about 18-24 PSI myself. I could detail a terrific arrangement of parts for each, just not right now. eg

Start them in opposite corners pointed at each other.Let the mains get 8 to ten ft long then turn them so theyre now aiming parallel.Give them around 900square feet each.How you position at and after the fruit will be dictated by which side of the vine the pumpkin is on.That would be a modified diamond pattern.The goal is to have longer side vines just before the pumpkin.

If I had that much space but still only wanted to grow two pumpkins, then I would plant a cover crop on half of it and grow the two pumpkins on the other half. And rotate the 2/2 every year. 25 x 50 is plenty of space to grow to pumpkins.
