Subject:  CUT OFF TENDRALS?

i have noticed in some diaries that some people are talking about cutting off tendrals just curious of why and just to be certain are they the thin wirey looking things

They do start off as thin & wirey. But as the grow, they tend to entangle themselves with anything nearby. In nature, tendrils serve to anchor the plant. But since we're all burying the secondary voines & using Bamboo stakes, etc, the plant can live without them.

Personally, I believe they add stability to the plant. I cut the ones that interfer with other plant growth and the ones that grow under the vine hindering the vine to lay down flat. My side vines used to roll on their sides when I cut the tendrals evtn though i burried mr vines. I get a lot of wind up here,I need all the help I can. They act like the two stabilizer arms on a backhoe. My two cents.

Normally tendrels hit the ground they are the first part of the secoundary vine to be burried. Only use bamboo shoots or rod to redirect the vine.. mark
