Last year I had an awful battle with Powdery Mildew. It went on for weeks and weeks and finally kicked my butt and my plants. I do not want to go through that again this year. It has been really wet up here in the N.E and I would like to know when I could begin preventative appliciations. From the boards I know what to apply just not sure when to start. Thanks... Blaine

Mass? First week of July or last week in June would be my instinct. I start early & aply weekly using lower than label rates to avoid tip injury.

It´s always good to use some foliar feeding products intended to make your plants stronger and more resistant all over the season. Most products I can buy over here are just to defeat mildew if it´s there so early applications are not preventative with that kind of stuff. Bayer has a pretty good range of new fungicides against common diseases, my father told me he had success saving his ill tomatoe plants which used to be really difficult in the past.

Thanks for the tip on lower than label rates... I probably wouldn't have done that. Floh, I planned on doing a more frequent foliar feeding this year with lower rates instead of the weekly feedings I did last year. I also spent a couple years: 1970-1972, in Bitburg, Germany.... I have a lot of nice memories from that time...
