they will start getting bigger, in a day or two is all it takes. as long as they hold there shine they should have taken.

Boy are you in for a treat! These things go up like beach balls on steriods. You wont even need a tape measure to see that they are physically larger from one day to the next. Especially when they are small. I Live about 40 mi east of South Bend are you nearby? Eric

Once they have "taken", be prepared with a plan for the fruits growth. Get something under the fruit. Some growers use just sand. We use sand & "Paper Mill Belting". Others prefer either rigid or flexible (open or closed cell) insulation boards.
Position of stem is critical to finishing. As shoulders expand, they can push the fruit right off the vine. So plan ahead.
As the fruit grows, also undercut the vine of aerial (secondary) roots so the vine can rise with the ever rising stem. AG's are "soft stemmed" pumpkins & that stem can't take much stress.
This is the most exciting time of year unless it's a weigh-off. Enjoy!

Nope none pollenated yet. In fact the females I do have are about a week to 10 days away from opening. I live in a subdivision in Middlebury so I have room for only 2 plants. The First females are comming in at about the right time for fall harvest but I do wish that I had some other earlier ones. The state fair would have been fun for taking a pumpkin but my first ones wont even be close to ready for that. I filed seeds on the first of may so that is kinda late for the state fair. Good to see another Indiana grower here though. Eric

what about growing them on a skid i thought maybe that would help circulate air & also when do ya start thinking about giving them shade?...whats the best way to address the stem position so it dont pop off????im assuming now is the time to do it
