just curious as to why its so hard to get the really big pumpkins not trying to be sarcastic really just asking..like i said earlier this is my first try & just trying to learn some of the tricks or how to finesse them.hard to see much of a pattern from reading the messages everyone has there own thing besides the normal nutrient requirments.....i just assumed yes probably wrongly that genetics did most of the work....right now i have 6 females 3 on the main 14 males been snippin a few secondaries & burying them also buryed 2 feet of the main..

Genetics delivers nothing more than potential. The rest is hard work & discipline. Do everything you must & nothing you shouldn't. Everything that must be done must also be done on time. And be prepared to do nothing especially when you most think you should be doing something.

The best seed in the world will still die in the hands of a poor or inattentive grower.

Even a dark horse no name seed will do pretty well if a good grower gives it an honest effort.

Go out and get yourself copies of how to grow world class giant pumpkins, volume's 2 and 3. Combine that info with the info on this site, and you'll be on your way.

You can order HTGWCGP III from the home page on this website. There are only a few places in my area that carry the valuable book. I would personally feel a little more satisfaction buying the book directly from the author. you can do this here

Most of what was covered in Volume 1 is covered again & updated in Volume 2. Volume 3 is pretty high brow advanced growing data & probably not the right place for a new grower to start. I'm with Scott on this. Get 2 & 3, but certainly start with 2.
