I am trying my hand at growing Big Max pumpkins this year. The plants are 66 days old, have two pumpkins on, my largest is the size of a basketball (14 days old). I'd like some advice on what to sit the pumpkins on to prevent rotting and/or something from digging into it from underneath, I have a few pesky moles around. The soil is sandy and well drained.

How about sand with soft screen underneath? The screen will prevent critters from getting to your fruits.

Does that insolation board work? or does it just break into pieces?
