After reading about fertilization and nutrient requirements here in these forums, I took the advice of many and had a soil test done. Unfortunately, it shows my soil to be very weak in both Nitrogen and Potassium, but high in Phosphorous. What's the best way to rectify this (if possible) this late in the season?? I am certainly going to get this right next year. Who thought that growing a damn pumpkin actually begins in the fall?

The season begins as soon as we get hooked and then it goes about 365 days a year except in leap years when it goes 366!
Try to go into therapy right away before you get hooked too far and save yourself a lot of fun and grief...ha ha!

To rectify your soil at this time is very difficult...especially since nitrogen might not be wanted close to pollination time but you could start adding some Potassium slowly each week until fall. In fall you could start bringing in the compost and manure. Compost wouldn't hurt at this time either...

I'm sure you'll get many other suggestions but a program of light biological fertilizers such as Neptunes Harvest Fish Emulsion and Seaweed could help you out for this season too but they'll leach out of the soil by next season.
