The rear main on my 339 Little is at 19' this morning , should I terminate it at a certain point? Also how long should I let the secondaries on it reach?

The latest theory is that plant size should be between 400 to 600 sq feet and maybe a little larger for a "wishbone" style. It use to be 1000 sq feet or more but some of the best growers have been finding that by managing the size of the plant, more energy goes into the pumpkin fruit. With that in mind and becasue you have a nice size "rear main" you could grow your plant in a wishbone style using your front and rear main to make the wishbone. From there, you could let the secondaries grow 10 to 14 feet per side (shorter if you run out of pumpkin patch). Cut off all tertiaries (side vines off the secondaries). Additionally, you could trim off every other secondary if there is too much vegetation. I would terminate the main vine (and rear main) somewhere between 20 feet and 25 feet max. My patch is small so I stick with 400 square feet per plant. I grow on one main vine about 20 feet long with secondaries in a Christmas tree shape. The secondaries are 10 - 14 feet long near the base and shorter at the tip. Happy Growing Kayla
