Hi, This is my first year trying to grow pumpkins. I am not growing one of the mammoth pumpkins... only the jackolantern type, but I couldn't find any message boards except on this site.
Today I finally had a female flower open and I happily pollinated it. :-)
Is anyone else growing jackolantern pumpkins out there?

I have one normal plant growing, but I'm letting it do it's thing, I did however pollinate a female today, and I have another ready to open tomorrow!
Good luck to you!

Hi CindiSi, I grow different varieties of pumpkins: Big Max, Conneticut, Jack-o-lantern... every year. This is my first year growing a big pumpkin. I have to share PumpkinFam's sentiments about the weather. I know I am quite a bit behind compared to other years. All my plants are very healthy though!!! Everything I tried to pollinate has been fine with nothing aborting (`course...let's see if my tune is the same a month from now.) Good luck with the season.

Hi CindySi, I'm growing all kinds of pumpkins. I get my seeds from northern growers like Johnny's, Vessey's, and Pinetree. They perform well in colder climates. I'm also growing my first AG this year thanks to clear plastic to warm my soil. My best pumpkin is (believe it or not) on a seed that self started from last year. Not sure what it is yet,it is about 50lbs. It is about 55 today, does this slow the growth of set fruit? I
