The main on one of my plants sort of pinched itself at 23 feet after growing up against my chicken wire and snapping itself off at the end, just the bud. I hope that it will concentrate it's energy on the fruit now instead of vine growth...is this a correct assumption?

Now some growers prefer to keep the main growing till it slows of its own accord, maybe thinking the plant knows its gotta keep putting out the juices or to keep it feeling young? Love to have input on my meager understanding. I know I would still have mains growing if they didn't break already! Thanks in advance for clearing this thread up!
