Tonight will be about 48 degrees. Should I cover any pumpkins that are promising? In cool weather, I guess you don't water as much. What about fertilizer? It isn' going to reach 60 until Sunday.

The vines won't use as much water. Se we'll apply lass. But don't allow drought symptoms to set in.
Lot's of folks cover the fruit with blanket at night to try & keep the heat in them. It's a good idea.
If frost threatens, then irrigation at brief intervals throughout the night can save the plants.
