well I had 4 little guys going good 1 was really taking off in the first 2 weeks (17" Cir) then the MF hurricane Charlie came through and tossed the plant around--all the leaves that were at the base have shriveel up and look dead--the main two vines seem tohave weathered the storm and are growing good I see daily groth, BUT all my little dudes seem to have slowed down or stoped grownig????? Nothing over a 2/8 of an inch/per day , my biggest seems to be hated in his tracks. WHAT SHOULD I DO. The main vines looks good-should I pull thses four and start overor wait a few weeks to see what happenes. I still have not hit the 20 day mark yet, but I feel something is wrong. We have hot and humid weather here in NC into November--so I thinking I may have some time. To be honest I'm not sure what type of seeds I threw down in that spot in the yard--they may be the little type pumpkins-not sure
I ordered good seeds(Atlantic Giants) to try for next year, but I may try a couple seeds now--My deadline is OCT 31st and all i want are a few large(average) pumpkins-so I don't have to go out and buy any this year

Go for it, sounds like you have plenty of time. I have 10 Jack-o-lantern ready now all about the size of a basketball or bigger. I planted them in May so thats about 3+ months of growth. Good luck.

I'd say let the vine try to heal itself and go for it. Might want to try to get some seeds from the folks here on bp.com, because the store bought variety (like the type I planted this year) will give you a large pumpkin (200lbs) but not a monster pumpkin... (500lbs+).
