Well I had to cut off my best one today afert a week of charting NO growth after Hurrican Charlie, However the 2nd fruit on the same vine was still--ever so slowly, growing--only an inch over the last week as oposed to my larger fruit that had 0 growth over the last week. Why would the 2nd younger fruit still keep at it but the larger older one stopped--I'm sure the large tear in the main vine 2 feet awayand near the base had al ot to do with this, but is the 2nd smaller fruit getting its jucies from the front part of the vine. The vine is still growing 6" a day--when it hits 15-20' I will purne it back and burry it and see if any advanced growth happens.
As for my other vine the two fruits on it are still growing--ever slow slowly (an inch over the last week) the vine is about 5' feet out from the fruit---so what would happen if I cut it now and burried it as oppesed to waiting untill the vein is 15-20' feet out.
Man all I want is some average large pumpkins 50-70" around the middle and some of you guys worry about if its only going to be 200-500lbs !!!!!! PUMPKINS ARE THE HARDES THING TO GROW IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!

I would only grow 1 pumpkin per plant. This time of the year I would prune the new growth so that all of the energy goes to 1 pumpkin. Cloudy and cool weather can really slow down growth.
