My fastest growing pumpkin finally split wide open yesterday. We have retreved the seeds and my wife suggested we keep the pumpkin for the county fair, to be entered as a jack o lantern, next weekend. Will this thing keep for a week being opend up? Is there a way to help preserve it. It is too big to refrigerate. I put it in the shade but its bee pretty hot!

When I have carved my AGs for jack-o-lanterns they do seem to hold a week but not much more. I would keep it as cold as you possibly can (without freezing it) and hope for the best. Good Luck
