I picked my pumpkins because the vines were dead and am wondering if they should be placed in the shade. I heard it said somewhere that if they are left in the sun it would harden the shell. How can I preserve them untill holloween?

Cool dry place definetly out of sun. Garage, barn, etc. Put a fan on stem end once in a while, wipe down with a 10% bleach solution and water weekly.

My pumpkin from fair 8-10 is on pallet outside in shade under heavy blanket, just checked it this mouning still soild. Stem is about gone. Stem was beginning to rot before Labor day, used some H2O2 on it, stopped the rot.
