Ive grown a respectable sized pupmkin but certianly not a record setter. The O.T.T. chart estimates the weight at 320. Last year was my first attempt and I used my bathroom scale to measure a 197 pounder but thats not going to work for this guy. The logistics of getting to a weigh off are difficult and Its not necessary to me to have an "official sanctioned" weight. Im just curious what this sucker weighs??? Any suggestions?? I live in a suburb South of Seattle (Federal Way)

Here in central MN, we can take it to a grain elevator for a weight. Are there any of those near you? Otherwise a scale at a nursing home(for weighing people in wheel chairs) may be a possibility. Of course O.K. it with the administator, and make sure the scale can take that much weight. If you go this route, you might as well set up a time to show it off to the residents. I hope this helps some. By the way, congratulations on your PB pumpkin!

Take it to your local recycle depot. They can weigh it for sure. Some places weigh your vehicle as you go in and go out. Drive in, unload the pumpkin, drive out. Get the weight...pick your fruit up and leave. The attendants at the recycle depot will love it.

Truck scales along the Freeway usually weigh in 20# increments...not accurate enough for our needs.

isn't there a weigh off in Des Moines, Wa this year ? close to you - fun to go to ... i'd recommend that...
... if you don't want to do that ... you can get 4 bathroom scales... and a small table. find a level place... put a scale under each leg of the table. weigh the the table ... put the pumpkin on the table... subtract off the weight of the table... the weight will only be as accurate as your scales ...but I think, it should be with in a 5-10 lbs.

g1t, thats a creative idea!! I had been planning on the Des Moines weigh off all season but it was canceled. @#$*!! I've decided to join the Pacific Northwest Giant Pumpkin Growers Assn. for next year and stay up on the dates and times and be better prepared for next years weigh offs.

Hey Federal Way, there is a weigh-off at Central Market in Shoreline this Saturday. (Registration at 8:00 a.m. weighing at 10:00 a.m.) I'm bringing my 350 for my first weigh off all the way from beautiful Sequim. Why not go there? I'm not sure if you have to be an official PNWGPG member to get weighed.
