I have the following:
235 Wright(1007 Brown x 1048 Cox) 710 Gipe (1087 Cilibretto x 1061 Cilibretto) 663 Crosby (genetics unknown) 562 Crosby (genetics unknown)
I am considering crossing the 235 and 710, and maybe the 710 and 562 (the 562 had such nice color). I am also awaiting some 600 Fasciano (uow) (978.6 berard x 1048.6 companion) which should be arriving soon. These I want to self and try to strengthen the genes because it was a very nice looking pumpkin. So, I guess what I'm looking for is something that might make a better cross than what I have. This coming spring will be my first year for pumpkins, so please don't recommend high dollar seeds or seeds that would be better off with an experienced grower. The reason I say that is because I realize that there are only a limited number of each seed, and it would be a shame to waste something another grower may do much better with. Thanks for any help or recommendations.

Generally speaking if you want orange, look for crosses with the 801.5 Stelts,846 Calai,705 Stelts,810 Dill and 940 Mombert in them. Crosses with the 935 Lloyd and 845 Bobier tend to be less orange but heavier. Many growers will be offering up seeds from this years crop for free at this site in about a month.

I actually have already read doc's diaries for both 2003 and 2004. He's a true gentleman with a flair for the written word. Notice I am planning on using the 710 in at least two crosses. My concern is that I will cross it with the wrong seed and ruin a good line. The 710 is definately going in the ground, I just want to make sure I cross it properly. In fact I am also considering selfing it. I now have room for four plants. My garden has gone from a modest 1500 sq. ft to 5000 sq. ft. So have no fear, the 710 is a primary, I just don't want to ruin a good seed!
