Got a question about world record pumpkins. I know they go and weigh them take pictures and all that but what happens after with the seeds. Do they sell them? If they do were could you buy them?

Most giant pumpkin growers, including World Record holders, will send their seeds (no charge) to pumpkin clubs and fellow pumpkin growers if you send them a self addressed stamped bubble pack. Keep in mind that there are
many requests for the World Record and only a limited amount of seeds. Also, seeds from many of the world's top pumpkins are usually available at several on line auctions which usually take place in December and January.....also many pumpkin clubs will mail you a fine assortment of seeds
when you join. Yes, getting a seed from the World Record is
good idea........ getting a seed from the pumpkin that grew
the Record is even better......and much harder to get.

Well said, In my early days of growing Giant Pumpkins i made so many friends thru requesting Seeds and never once got told to "GO AWAY". Generous, Kind and sympathetic to new growers desperation to get the best seed possible are all characteristics of the biggest percentage of the Growing Community.

Thanks for the help. I found an article on CBC (Canadian CNN) about the world record and they said seeds sell at $300 a seed. And yah you have to an absalute nut to buy a seed for that much. SO I had to ask the question.

Kyle,

I've got plenty of free seeds from my 577.5 and 511 grown in 2003. There have been alot of nice large round pumpkins grown from these seeds this year from many first time growers.

Let me know/G
