I just read the new rules and they look good to me. What I like the best was the 100% color rule for squash.
The only rule that I am not sure about is the weigh of period rule. Seems that we are closing the door to those Australian growers that harvest between January and March. Or did I read it wrong and am not understanding?

No site in the southern hemisphere yet but we are suggesting that it be open for the other half of the year from Oct 21st to June 30th

I have read over the rule and a few things seem unclear. Do they have separate classes for pumpkins and squash or do they weigh together in one class with bonus's for colour? I don't have a problem with a squash taking the top place if it is the largest fruit but the definition of a squash is wrong and I don't like it. They are all squash. Pumpkins are special because they are not green! I hope I misunderstood the wording but to me it sounds like squash are now the special ones and every thing else called a pumpkin. If this was done to stop the controversy over colour rules...........Hmmmm.

Question regarding 100% green for squash: Does a 100% lime green heavily covered by cantelouping count? Consider this, it is not dark green and the cantelouping is dominant making the squash look like a canteloupe :)

First thing is thankyou for posting the new rules on B.P.
Even though there is currently no GPC weigh off in the UK contest organisers here still look to North America for guidance on things like the colour rules and I think the new ones are easier to understand and less subjective.
Last year here at one weigh off we had an orange fruit with a tiny bit of green in the blossom end in a squash class,I was pointing this out to the organisers and started saying something like "In the USA a squash is" at this point I shut up pretty fast as I remembered no one could agree on what a squash was. This year I won't have any trouble explaining a 100% rule.
