After attending 2 GPC weigh-offs so far this year it seems to be encouraging that most all growers are bringing their vital stats to the site. The stats I am refering to are the traditional 700#+ info that we use to complete the BP spread sheet at all GPC sites. If you need a refresher on what info we are looking for please go to the GPC home page and click on the GPC weigh-off day registration form. I encourage all growers to bring this info to the site on weigh-off day (700#+ or not) so the person collecting and entering the stats will have a complete listing for all fruit.

Dave,
It's a great concept but it still needs a little work. Maybe Ken or someone better at Excel than me can start tweaking. I have a guy if we need help.
Here's what I've noticed.
Entering: I found that entering the measurements requires redundant effort. Even a simple Excel spreadsheet could add the measurments together & this spreadsheet does not. We should fix this. Using a calculator to make computer entries is kinda silly.
Rounding: We can include decimals in the first 3 boxes (SS, EE & Circ) but no decimals are permitted in the total box. That's just weird. LOL
This sreadsheet could have been tied directly to a Stellpflug chart so that once the 3 measurements were entered, the total OTT & Est weights automatically populated....That would have been slick.
Vine styles: Need more options.
No insect or disease pressure record.
It's a lot of data for the site coordinators to collect during a weigh-off but our guys did a great job & they deserve a lot of credit for getting what they did. Fortunately the RI boys had a leaking brake hose so I got them on the cell phone for some of the more mundane details that we overlooked while taping fruit like mad. The great thing about taping at the weigh-off with 2 people is that everything is very flat & consistant. Hence the measurements are pretty much spot on with no hills or vines getting in the way.

I have been working with Ken and have thrown alot at him to put in the spread sheet. It is an evolving process and all ideas to help out are welcome. We realize there are some rough edges to smooth out but the end result is better, faster, and free to all who visit BP. Ken also has to build each spread sheet to personalize it for each site, this is a time consuming process and I personally can't thank him enough for his time and effort he has given us.

Yes, Steve your ideas are actually what we intended on doing in terms of measurement data. We just ran out of time for this year as the number of GPC has increased significantly and so has the effort to roll this out.
