Nov. 11th 2008 for immediate release.

After years of hard work and dedication Dave McCallum, has recently announced retirement from his position on the GPC as Executive Vice President. Dave's tireless efforts over the years have helped growers from all over the world gain skill and knowledge from his work within the GPC. Dave was instrumental in developing the many weigh-off sites now overseas in Europe and across the world. His pleasant demeanor and speaking skills embraced us for years as host of the convention every March. Dave now leaves the GPC on a sound financial and organizational footing ready and prepared for the road ahead.

As Dave moves onto to the patch of his dreams, please join us in Congratulating Dave on his marvelous service to the commonwealth and growers everywhere.

Hey pap.

That sure was a very nice comment.

I've known Dave for a numbers of years and if there is one thing that always rings for him it is stead fast calm and patient walk in support of plain old pumpkin growers everywhere.

My dad had a saying. He used used it only sparingly when talking about others. I am sure if he ever met Dave he'd say that he his "GOOD PEOPLE":

a lot of us dont realize the amount of work that goes into helping run any type organization and, dave has done it for a long time. im going to miss his high energy.

volunteerism (i just made that word up-lol) can be very time consuming as well.

for those like dave who i think by the way is a first ballot 2009 h.o.f.candidate, its what they have done for most of their lives. giant pumpkins just happened to be part of it.

Yeah you’re right about that pap. Dave has not only been a great ambassador of the hobby he was always been there in some type of commonwealth organizing capacity. His work in his community is absolutely exemplary too. He is a long time member and past president of the Woodbridge fair. That fair has been running for 161 years and he rived the Woodbridge GPC Weigh-off a few years ago to boot. In addition to all of the other hats he wears Dave has been a tremendous organizer and booster of Port Elgin’s Pumpkinfest too. His shoes will be very hard to fill.
