Mother of the 1268 Hunt. The 901 Hunt is expected to be widely planted in the GVGO club in the 2009 season.

You are bidding on one nice big fat seed only.

I thought I would pass along my personal view of the 901 plant that produced Phils monster. This plant and fruit was by far the largest and most prolific grower I have ever seen in a pumpkin patch. After many many years of growing I suspect I have seen 900 hundred or more plants in that time. This plant had side vines that were the size of a grown mans wrist at the terminal ends. The leaves were huge and thick and easily the best solar collectors ever manufactured by a cucurbita maxima specimen.

My first glance at the fruit was taken from Phil's back porch and you could easily see the size of the thing was out of the ordinary. It was as if Phil's yard was trapped in a remake of the film "Little Shop of Horrors". Phil was acting out his roll as Seymour trying to feed the hungry monster that far out paced anything in his patch.

I mean you had to see the size of this plant. The vines were absolutly huge and the leaves upright and lush. The fruit had raced out in size to well over 1000 pounds by the time mid August rolled around. Had phil not left on vacation that week he would have had a pumpkin well over anything ever grown in Ontario before. Had it not been for a breif dry spell during his abscence we would be hoisting the worlds best pumpkin banner in Cameron ON.

I went to Phils home in late August to view the plant and quicky prodded him to let me search through his stash of 901 seeds for the very best of potential progeny left over from his meager supply. I picked out three nice fat ones and this seed is the last that remains here for auction. The other two were placed in the earlier GPC featured grower chat auction. I have one remianing seed which is going into my best patch spot. Wish me luck. This seed will be grwon by many within the GVGO this coming summer as Phils monster takes it's place beside some of the worlds best seeds.
