I hope every one has a new PB in their patch and are making the most of your 2009 season.
In less than a week the GPC Northern Hemisphere sites will be starting to put the monsters on the scales with the Iowa & Indiana State fairs weighing off. Good luck to those sites and the growers who will be participating.
I would like to remind all growers of what the GPC is offering for 2009 season. There is a new category called "Master Grower" which will take your biggest entry for pumpkin/squash (which ever is bigger only 1), tomato, field pumpkin, watermelon, & long gourd. It will be the growers responsibility to notify the Executive Committee or your site reps. for eligible entries and what sites they were weighed at. Only the growers who enter in all 5 categories will be eligible and will only be competing with growers who meet this requirement.

We have expanded the $$$ payouts as well and a new WR pumpkin is worth $2,000 & WR squash is worth $2,000 *WR bonus money only goes to the largest WR at the end of all GPC weigh-offs.
Please make sure you are aware of all rules governing GPC weigh-offs.

So look for the GPC weigh-off locations and enter as many as you wish.

Don't forget about the early weigh program for tomatoes. If you have a big tomato and want credit for it get the form and get it weighed.

In order to get GPC cash payouts the fruit must be entered and weighed at a premium ($300) GPC site. Please review Please review "Rules regarding prizes" #6 Individual grower prize money.

All monetary payouts will be given out in Niagara 2010 for the 2009 season. If the grower can not be in Niagara to get their money we will mail you a check after the seminar has concluded.

Let's also make sure that every site is measuring each entry EXACTLY THE SAME WAY.

The media went wild last year when news of a new record was erroneously leaked.

Make sure you utilize the preregistration form on the GPC information page.

This helps out the BP spread sheet person at each site tremendously by filling in the info for your entries. If you want a copy for you to bring to the weigh-off just use the print screen option on your computer.

Check the GPC results page to make sure that all of your entries were entered on the BP spread sheet. If the data entry person missed or left out any entry please contact them and/or your regional GPC rep to have the issue resolved.
The GPC is recognizing field pumpkins this year and like any other category we recognize each site has a responsibility to ensure the exhibiting grower has all of their entries properly judged, weighed, measured, and entered on the BP spread sheet.
All exhibitors please bring all statistics to the site your are exhibiting at so the data entry person can properly complete all of your entries on the BP spread sheet.
