When we tried to decide who on the board we'd ask to run the silent auction no other name was even mentioned. Russ has a talent here that's for sure. THANKS RUSS!

Seeing all of Russ' contributions first hand I am sure the pumpkin world is unaware of how important he has been to the progression of the GPC.

I will say personally I can not thank Russ enough for his dedication and selfless work he has given to benefit all growers.

Having the pleasure of knowing Russ personally I can attest to the fact that every minute of every day Russ is thinking about making this sport better for all of us. The countless emails, phone calls and research this man does is amazing.

I don't know Russ personally but his nickname "coach" on the GVGO site is well deserved. Sometimes it's way over my head but well deserved.

Having Russ as a founding member of our club and highly involved over the years is one of the main reasons weights are going up in our growers patches here in ontario. His involvment in the GPC is vast and he along with all the other GPC members increases awareness of our great sport.

Thanks

We'll jump on the "Lov Russ" bandwagon too. Russ has been one of the key drivers of the GPC over the past couple years & his hard work & dedication to the sport are appreciated by all who know him.

The only problem with his major role in the GPC, is that we lose him at the GVGO level. What most of you don't know is that Russ is stepping down as Western Regional Rep of the GVGO. This is a big loss to the GVGO. You just can't replace a guy like Russ. His natural love & passion for the sport, along with his drive to succeed is something that we'll dearly miss. I know Russ will still try to do all he can to make the GVGO & it's members better gardeners.

Maybe it's time to increase the # of growers on the GPC board? The sport has grown a lot over the past couple season, but has the # of volunteers increased enough to keep up with increased interest in our sport? I'm sure a few more growers on the GPC board would lighten up the load for the others board members. Just my 2 cents. I'm not interested though. LOL.

Wow so many great friends in this hobby.

Lets not forget the effort of Andy W, Dave S. and the other members of the executive. Look at poor Joe S. as a result of the web auctions and the general auction he will have nearly 100 bubblers to mail out.

The fast pace of sitting on the executive of the GPC can be very rewarding as we all truly believe in what the GPC stands for . That being (GPC) mission cultivates the hobby of growing giant pumpkins throughout the world by establishing standards and regulations that ensure quality of fruit, fairness of competition, recognition of achievement, fellowship and education for all participating growers and weigh-off sites.

It’s pretty much similar to the goals and mission of the GVGO. Promoting what you truly love and believe in is always the easiest thing to do in life. Anything about pumpkins is always a breeze.

I, too, must send kudos to Mr. Russ - without his guidance and gracious sharing of information in my early years I would not have the knowledge and history of the seeds and the "gentlemens' rules" that go with this exciting hobby. I also think it's pretty special when he makes up a GPC raffle asking all the growers to send the convention seeds without giving me a warning - what a pleasant surprise when I came to the boards today.
