Some of the thinking behind this award was that growers in other regions might have a shot at winning SOMETHING during any given growing season since growing the heaviest pumpkin is out of reach. It's pretty obvious that growing conditions for each of the award categories also favor these same areas. So in that regard, the Master Gardener Award is a failure, in all likelihood, it will always be won by a grower in the northern hemisphere.

I will say that it sure as hell ain't easy to grow all of the categories simultaneouosly no matter where the patch is located, it is an amazing accomplishment in my book. It would be nice to award all of the eligible growers with a patch or plaque because each one of them is a Master Gardener in my opinion.
