Any idea what it's going to be this year? I think some of the growers might want to know before they make their seed selections and purchases

With the blizzard y'all had up that way Wiz, I'd say everything's cold right now.
Veggie of the year, I nominate giant cabbage... the idea of one over 100# just boggles my feeble imagination.

I would think Deb that they will be picking a veggie that is recognized as a GPC category

I know many growers would like to see the cabbage added to the GPC line-up. It is grown by many growers in Canada, Alaska & overseas. I'm not sure how popular it is with growers in the lower 48 though.

If I can keep the white butterflies away from them, I'd sure give it a go.

The PNWGPG had an unofficial Cabbage contest and set a new st record of 40+ pounds . I know several growers around our area plan to growem.

That is my question as well Glenn. I wish I had thought of asking much sooner in retrospect (back in November) but in all honestly I didn't think about it until I started forming auction and raffle lots for the Niagara seminar. I think all weigh-offs, clubs and growers would like to be armed with this information prior to the start of their fundraising activities and seed selections/purchases. Once again it seems that the GPC is withholding information and I am not sure why. I do not understand this decision.

Sally, it is the same as last year when we disclosed Squash as the featured vegetable. Nothing is different. Las Vegas is our Yearly General meeting, at which time we make several announcements, featured Vegetable being one of them. There are other GPC announcements and changes, all of which will be disclosed and announced in Las Vegas
