The GPC is pleased to anounce the creation of a new award this year. It is called the Vine of Honor

The Vine of Honor was created to recognise significant contributions to the sport of Giant Pumpkin Growing. Individuals may be considered that do not necessarily meet the criteria for the Hall of Fame, however it is possible for someone to receive both awards.

•    Individuals may be considered that are, current     growers, retired growers, non-growers, event     organizers, support people, etc.

•    Individuals that are living or that have passed on     may be considered.

The GPC will accept nominations for the award each year from November 1st-30th. Nominations for the award may be made by any individual or organized growing club.
Nominations will be made in writing, outlining why it is felt the individual is worthy of receiving the award and their contribution to the sport. Candidates will be reviewed by the steering committee for eligibility and voted on.

We are pleased to announce the first recipient of this award is:

Steve Jepsen (Tremor)

From here on the award will be officially called:

The Steve Jepsen Vine of honor.

Lorraine and Steven Jepsen were on hand in Las Vegas to accept the award in Steves memory.

well deserved for sure.

anyone that knew steve in his hay-day knew him to be generious with his knowledge, a strong supporter of the gpc and his ct club as well.
extremely knowledgeable regarding plant and soil diseases as well.

unfortunately his life was cut short but he will always be in my thoughts.

why do we seem to lose so many of the the good ones so early?

This is so great to hear. I still have printed out and saved files from Steve. He (Steve) was a very,very giving person to help just about anyone who had a problem with a disease or bug problem. I always felt Steve deserved a award for all he did for every Pumpkin grower. I Still got a printed out e-mail I sent him with a problem and stated he deserved a award from the GPC. Steve, I know your looking down from heaven and I'm glad they named this award after you. God does work in many ways..... Amen
