It is with deep regret that the GPC Committee has decided to postpone the Danvers 2022 IGC event. It will be rescheduled for March 2023 due to the current pandemic situation.
Those who have already registered will have a choice between a refund, or they can choose to stay registered for the 2023 convention. Anyone who chooses to forgo a refund will not be subject to any cost increases for the IGC event in 2023. Once the Awards for the 2020 and 2021 growing seasons are complete, they will be sent to the GPC area representatives for distribution to the growers at their respective club spring meetings in 2022. Growers that cannot arrange to pickup their awards via club meetings or another grower who does attend, will be shipped out by the GPC rep during an April time frame. This includes GPC Bomber jackets and patches.
The GPC will keep the glass trophies, GOTY, HOF, VOH, and Master Gardener awards to be distributed at the 2023 event.
The GPC will be working on a Virtual IGC to be announced at a later date.
We are saddened to have to make this decision once again for our growers, however due to the increased events of the pandemic we have decided that the safety and health of our growers remains a priority. GPC wishes all growers a prosperous and happy Holiday season.

So much for herd immunity through our vaccination programs. This covid situation is a weird mix of public health, politics, media and virology.Plus its newish.A no win situation.

$1500 burnt up in non refundable airline tickets. I have Three shots and work in people's mouths for a living..... Probably could have survived a pumpkin conference.

Think it was a little to late cancel how many people scheduled vacation days how many paid flights how many been working overtime to go to event. I don’t remember seeing anything on bp asking should we cancel no warning. Need to cancel maybe 5 or 6 months in advance next year

Maybe the gpc could schedule it a few weeks earlier next year, I've heard some tickets may be good up to a year.

I understand totally. Yes, I am sad but we all have to do what needs to be done. I respect the decision, and I thank all from the GPC for all their hard work and countless hours they spend. I look forward to seeing all when things get better. THANK-YOU GPC. I'll see you soon.

@Scott - Most if not all domestic airlines offer vouchers for cancelled trips. We've had to do that so many times during the pandemic.

Also, I'd be super interested in a Virtual Conference offering. I'm wondering if the GPC would consider doing what many other conferences have done since the pandemic: changed the format of the conference going forward to a hybrid event that offers both in-person and virtual options. I'd guess that many of us that are unable to travel due to family/work comitments would love to be able to sit in on the educational sessions virtually and would be glad to pay a registration fee for that privilege.

Yes, the GPC will meet towards moving the convention a bit earlier so one could take advantage of a voucher. We will look into a Virtual Convention once again, despite us putting all efforts into a in person event, broke our hearts to postpone again and we need to get out the backlog of awards for those growers that have been waiting. Lots of volunteering to get done. Stay tuned... GROW BIG, and Happy Holidays to All.
