Mesa BBQ Sauce
2 Tbs (1/4 stick) butter 1/2 medium red onion finely diced 3 garlic cloves minced 6 plum tomatoes coarsley diced 1/4 c. ketchup 3 Tbs dark molasses 2Tbs dijon mustard 2 Tbs dark brown sugar 1Tbs honey 1tsp cayenne 1Tbs ancho chili powder 1 Tbs pasilla chili powder-avaiable @hispanic or specialty stores 1Tbs paprika 1Tbs worcestershire sauce
in large sauce pan over medium heat melt butter and sweat the onion and garlic until translucent add tomatoes and simmer 15 minutes add remaing ingridents and simmer 20 minutes.
I make my own anch chili powder by grinding up dryed anchos. I often elimante the pasilla chili powder as it is very costly for what you get
